Confused about diets?
Are you confused about what to eat? One minute they say eating eggs are bad and the next not. Butter is bad then it’s good. The best diet is no diet at all. “Wait a minute!” your saying. “No diet?” Right. NO diets. Diets do not last. It is a temporary thing to get you to a temporary ending of some kind. If you want to stay healthy then just eat the foods you like that are better for you. It is a lifestyle not a diet. A work in progress. You know French fries are not the best thing to have on your plate but you love them. So have them just not too often and add in some other form of vegetables at the meal. We are all bio-individual. What works for you may not work for another person. For instance, garlic and onions are said to be great for many things, yet, I know several people that do not eat these because it causes them stomach distress. They cannot digest vegetables in the Allium genus. Such a bummer, I love them!
A way of eating that is healthy and sustainable is a plate that has vegetables, whole grains, protein, fruits. Some oils and water. Choose foods that are not packaged with a long list of ingredients. That is a basic rule of thumb when it comes to what to eat that is good for you. What is not on your plate that also helps you to select better foods are the balance of relationships, career, spirituality, and physical activity. When these other areas of your life are out of balance then no amount of good food will help you to become healthier. It’s a whole body/mind connection.
Start to fill your plate at the table and in your life in general. You will find for example that the better your relationships are or the way you handle them will dictate what foods you choose to eat. This may sound silly and a little too easy but, if you crave sweets then you may be lacking sweet things in other areas of your life. Take a look at your whole life and not just your food plate.
I can go on with more but I think you have a general idea of where to start. Try not to make it complicated and be easy on yourself when it comes to foods. Stay away from processed foods and please don’t reprimand yourself if you eat something that is not so beneficial for you. Be nice to yourself and enjoy the cookie, or whatever else is your favorite sinful dessert.
What do you think? You want to give it a go? I am confident you can make this simple suggestion work for you. Have fun and don’t sweat it.
