Spring allergies
I can't wait to be digging my hands in the dirt!! I just love being outside and connecting with nature. It is one of the things I enjoy. I enjoy it more and more as the years go by. Spring is the time for new growth. Sowing seeds to bring nutritious foods or beautiful flowers. It's when nature wakes up.
One thing I do not care for in Spring is allergies. Do you have allergies? Lots of people have allergies. Many people take OTC meds for them and get minimal relief. Just enough to function but not so much as to actually be comfortable. Over time they wear off and a new OTC med is taken. Your body is being blocked from doing what it needs. It doesn't actually support the body in fighting the histamine response.
What is histamine?
regulates countless bodily functions and plays a key role in your body’s
inflammatory response
is a signaling chemical your immune system releases to send messages between different cells.
it’s mainly known for its role in causing allergic and anaphylactic symptoms.
Allergies are your body’s reaction to a foreign protein. Usually, these proteins (allergens) are harmless. However, if you have an allergy to a particular protein, your immune system overreacts to its presence in your body and you have symptoms like:
Itchy and watery eyes
Scratchy throat
Stuffy nose
Headaches
coughing
sneezing
diharea
cramps
hives
red blotchy skin
anaphylaxis when severe
Allergies come at any time of year. You can have different types of allergies like:
pollens
foods
dusts
perfumes etc.
smoke
In general there are things to do when you have allergies.
Try an elimination diet: this allows your body to target what types of foods bring out the histamine response
Change your health and beauty products. Many products our there have a great deal of chemicals which are reactive in our body. Not just with the allergies but also our hormones ladies!
Try looking into natural remedies for your allergy "medicine"
Herbal medicines for allergies are a great way to support your system and tamp down the histamine response while also supporting the liver, gut and immune system at the same time. This is what is great about herbs. It is not one herb for one thing. An herb does multiple things in the body. When you pair them with other herbs to support the other systems that are affected, you get a well rounded remedy that can really be so supportive to your body rather than shutting it down.
This is where main stream medicine has hit a wall. Most meds shut down a body's natural process rather than support it. We also have to take into consideration what we are putting into our bodies and what our lifestyle looks like. I want to make sure that you know that I am not an anti-medicine person. Medicine has it's place when needed. Supporting your system the way nature intended is much more healthier for you in the long run.
I urge you to take charge of your allergies this season and look at what you are putting in and on your body. If you have outside allergies, try looking into an herbal syrup or extract to help you. Support yourself instead of fighting against it.
